Person first. Athlete second.

No compromises.  No excuses.  Team CoreCo is a non-profit organization promoting healthy living, social responsibility and support for the community through 100% clean competition. Team CoreCo is devoted to developing the happiest athletes on and off the racecourse.  We focus on developing the whole person first, then the competitive athlete...not the other way around.

WE HAVE A PASSION FOR Developing COMMUNITY Leaders through the Crucible of competitive sport

Our goal is to build community, and leadership in that community, by focusing on developing our riders to be responsible and impactful individuals in their local home areas.  We do drive an athletic agenda, as well, and our podium spots and overall wins are palmares that speak for themselves; however, unlike most professional athletic teams, the podium is not the goal for us, but rather is an output of the more substantial work that we do with our athletes to be leaders in their own lives.

We do this by example.  From the team owner, to the team captain, to the overall team leadership group, service is out our core.  And, therefore, we expect all Team CoreCo athletes to be service-oriented in their lives, as well.

What that means is that each rider must give back along the way.  The "payment", so to speak, that each athlete makes to the team is a personal service project of their design, and a role for each athlete to stand out in their community as a leader and a beacon for others to follow, hopefully in like-minded, committed service.  In this way we hope to develop a growing network of "turned on" and "tuned in" individuals working to better their own lives, as well as the lives around them.

In some lucky cases these same hard-working athletes go on to have professional careers as sponsored competitors on larger and, in some cases, international racing squads.  But the case where a Team CoreCo athlete goes on to get pro-team opportunities is really the gravy on top of the "meat and potatoes" of what we do.

What we care about most is folks realizing that they can make an impact — a meaningful impact — just by engaging actively with their local community to make life better for all in Costa Rica, and wherever else Team CoreCo trains, races, and recreates.

And we do this all by promotion 100% clean competition.  A podium finish means nothing if the path to the top is not 100% natural and true.  What lasts long after the medals and the palmarès is who that athlete is as an individual, what they stand for, and what they give back.

In every aspect of sponsorship and support, Team CoreCo is dedicated to developing the whole person as a foundation cornerstone for their family, for their team and for their community, not simply developing the best rider or best athlete.

Together We Rise

Community is the core of our program.  Our team is not just the racers on the course, but is rather the collection of family, friends and supporters who stand behind each competitor and who form the Team CoreCo community.  It is through that connected network that we gain the strength, confidence and discipline to train and compete.

SERVICE Is Our CENTER

We founded Team CoreCo six years ago with the idea that grassroots development cycling could bring positive change and impact to aspiring athletes in Costa Rica, and, importantly, to the communities in which those athletes live and train.

Our “mission” was to build a service-oriented development athletic body that combines local impact with global reach, and that the team would become an example of clean competition, healthy living, aspirational achievement and service orientation, where the focus was on developing the best person first, and then building the strongest, fastest athlete.

While podium placements and achievement are important to the team, we view those palmarès as a “means to an end” where the WAY in which the athlete arrives on the top step of the podium is far more valued that the temporary event of a first-place finish.

Point-in-time achievement is not as valued to us at Team CoreCo as is the process through which we strive to achieve, as we consider the process to be a system that can be replicated and expanded in order to bring in more athletes and thereby bring in the communities of those athletes to bond together around cycling as a catalyst for positive change.
